A 3 month old male child was brought to the hospital with failure to thrive
and refusal of feeds. On examination he had massive hepato-splenomegaly.
Otherwise there seemed no obvious neurological impairment. Complete blood
counts revealed Hb 6 gm/dl, WBC of 13,200/cmm with a mild neutrophilic shift

Case 25
This is a 7-year-old girl with clinical history of fever for 3
months. She was given a course of Cifrofloxacin as a treatment for Typhoid
Fever, and a course of antimalarials (Chloroquin/Primaquin). At the present

An eight year old boy presented with a painful swelling over the
sternum and a solitary lytic lesion in the skull. Mild hepatosplenomegaly,

nonnutritive substances), presented with moderate hepatomegaly and raised
liver enzymes. Icterus was present and hyperbilirubinemia was predominantly
of conjugated type. Liver biopsy was done and five representative images

Section 5E belongs to a species which is very dear to the Medical Scientist.
