Case 7

HISTORY:

63 year old lady. Originally presented in Dec 06 as a 3cm linear ulcer on the lesser curve seen on OGD. Biopsies showed GIST. Proceed to total radical gastrectomy.

Gross Findings The stomach measures approximately 170 mm along lesser curve and 250mm along greater curve with attached greater omentum. There is a large tumour nodule arising in the fundic portion of the stomach which measures 85 x 75mm. The gastric mucosa corresponding to the tumour is flattened and ulcerated. The rest of the gastric mucosa shows no significant abnormality. The cut surface of the tumour nodule shows cystic degeneration within the nodule. The tumour appears to infiltrate the attached omentum. Digital images from the tumour.
