HISTORY:

58 year old man. Laparotomy and resection of small bowel for intussusception.

Gross findings: A segment of small bowel measuring 130 mm in length. The serosal surface is congested. On opening the bowel, there is an intussusception measuring 55 mm in length in the middle 2/3rds of the small bowel resection. The leading edge of the intussusceptum bears a polypoidal lesion which is arising from the mucosa, measuring 25 x 20 x 20 mm. The mucosa of the intussusceptum and intussuscipiens is flattened. The rest of the mucosa is unremarkable. Digital images from the intussusception.
